These Past Colder Months and Foreign Warm Weather Up Ahead
Most of this fall and winter was mainly centered around my life with iLuminate, but I still managed to fit in some traveling and soak up some of that world outside of the Big Apple.
In October, I was fortunate to judge and perform at B-Shown, which was part of Chicago’s annual Fire Festival. From spending some time in that city, I realized how many unknown talents are out there. Not to mention, the complex and mesmerizing “footworking" style that comes from there. It really was an honor to do a piece with some of Chicago’s veterans, too, like Popping Chuck, Mr. Cobra, and T-Bugz.
I now have fully laid my eyes on some impressive snowdrifts earlier this February when I experienced what seemed like Boston’s snowfall of the century and judged and danced alongside the multi-talented Néné and the acrobatic Firelock at OVRDRV 5.0. This event was part competition and part performance show with acts like the renown Kinjaz that came out to perform.
From spring’s end until mid-winter, I have been performing nightly alongside what has become a second family to me. On January 18, iLuminate enjoyed its final performance at New World Stages in Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood. Where one thing ends though, another begins, and by March’s end, our show moves across seas to the breathtaking Genting Resort in Malaysia. Does that pic below not look like some wonderland?! Being able to embark on this next journey is a very exciting one to say the least.
